Sensory World Cumbria was created from lived experience, understanding, and a deep passion to make a difference.

As a parent of an autistic child, I know first-hand how challenging everyday environments can be. Spaces that should feel fun and welcoming can quickly become overwhelming, isolating, and inaccessible. I also know how important it is to have somewhere safe — somewhere your child is understood, supported, and able to truly be themselves.

That’s why Sensory World exists.

This is more than just a sensory centre. It’s a place built with intention — where every detail has been designed to support emotional regulation, reduce overwhelm, and create positive experiences for both children and their families.

But just as importantly, it’s about community.

We are creating a space where families feel seen, supported, and connected. A place where parents can breathe, share experiences, and know they are not alone. A place where children are not expected to fit in — because they already belong.

Sensory World Cumbria is here to change the way our community supports neurodivergent children — creating a future where inclusion isn’t an afterthought, but the standard.
